Every American Preparatory school must have a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). PAC members serve on the school’s Charter Trust Land Council, advise on key family engagement policies, provide input on the Teacher and Student Success Plan and the annual School Improvement Plan (SIP), and participate in other matters important to our students at American Preparatory Academy.
“Parents” includes parents, legal guardians, and/or grandparents of currently enrolled students. Beginning with SYE 2027, four parents will serve on the PAC for schools with 500 or fewer students and six parents will serve for schools with over 500 students. This means:
PAC members annually participate in four meetings that are typically held during regular business hours. Three of those are 1-hour meetings (Fall, Winter, and Spring), with the School Improvement Planning meeting (Summer) running between 1-2 hours. Members are encouraged to participate in person at the school building, though an electronic option is generally provided.
Information about committee composition, elections, meetings, and duties, may be found by visiting these APA policy links: A-4.1 Parent Advisory Committee and A-4.2 Charter Trust Land Councils.
