How We Communicate & Who to Contact / Bus Registration

Published August 18, 2026

APA Eagle Mountain Families,

One of the most common questions new families have is simple: how will I know what’s going on? We have several communication channels at American Prep. Here’s your guide to how APA Eagle Mountain communicates — and what to do when you have a question.

Also, our Bus program registration is live! See details below for how to reserve your students’ spot.

Your Main Channels

📧 Email — The primary channel for official school communications. Important announcements, policy updates, and event reminders will come to the email address you have on file. Make sure EagleMountainInfo@apamail.org is in your contacts so our messages go to your inbox and don’t land in a spam folder.

📱 Text Alerts — Time-sensitive updates like early dismissals, weather closures, and safety alerts will come via text. Please update your phone number in the student portal once it launches to ensure you receive the latest text messages.

📞 School Office — You may need to call our school office from time to time. Please call 801-877-0778 to speak with our school secretary.

📰 Weekly Campus Newsletter

Every week, you’ll receive a newsletter from the campus with upcoming events, reminders, volunteer opportunities, and highlights from the classroom. This is your best source for knowing what’s coming up.

All newsletters will be archived online for reference later. The newsletter website will be published and distributed during the first week of school.

🖥️ Skyward Family Access

Skyward is APA’s student information system — where you’ll find grades, attendance, class schedules, and account information. Once your student portal account is finalized this summer, you’ll receive login instructions.

Cody O’Brien serves as the new School Director for the Eagle Mountain Campus, bringing 15 years of experience within APA — starting as a 5th-grade teacher at Draper 1 in 2009, then spending a decade as the 4th-6th Elementary Director at APA Salem before most recently serving as Site Director of the Early Learning Center. He holds a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and a Master’s in Education Administration, both from the University of Phoenix. A Utah native who lives in Payson with his wife Lindsey and their three children, Cody enjoys gardening in his free time and is thrilled to bring his experience to the Eagle Mountain community.

Austin Brakey brings a unique perspective to his role, having attended APA himself starting in kindergarten before returning to serve as a teacher aide and fourth- and fifth-grade teacher — now beginning his fourth year with the school. A graduate of Western Governors University with a degree in Elementary Education, Austin believes strong relationships, open communication, and teamwork are the foundation of a successful school community. Outside of school, he enjoys traveling, trying new foods, and playing chess.

We’re excited to offer bus service at Eagle Mountain this year, with three neighborhood stops serving our families each morning and afternoon.

Find out more about our bus program, routes, stop location details, and applicable fees at the link below.

Questions about a stop, a seat, or your application? Email EagleMountainInfo@apamail.org.

Walking Passes

Illustration of two APA Eagle Mountain students in uniform walking together on a sidewalk.

If your student lives within half a mile of campus, you may request a walking pass for your 5th or 6th grader instead of a bus seat or a spot in the carpool line.

To request one, email EagleMountainInfo@apamail.org with your student’s name, grade, and home address. Each request is reviewed individually, and approved students receive a backpack tag showing walker status.

School starts Wednesday, August 19th — email us today if you’d like a pass in place for the first day. Requests that come in later are still welcome.

Not sure whether you’re inside the half-mile line? Send us your address and we’ll check it for you.
