Big Changes Coming To American Preparatory Academy – Las Vegas

If you haven’t already heard, the American Preparatory Academy – Las Vegas charter school may be going through some significant changes this fall. The charter school’s governing board recently chose to change the model of the charter and divert from the “American Prep” model and its name.

What does this mean?

Unfortunately, because of the charter governing board’s decision to change their model, the American Prep model may no longer be available at the existing Las Vegas campuses. The only way to continue to provide our proven model in the short term would be to open a private American Preparatory Academy.

What will the current “APA” change to?

It is unclear what model the existing campuses will adopt. The governing board may try to continue the same academic rigor and culture; however, they will be departing from much of the proven American Prep curriculum, models and methods. For example, parents and students will not benefit from the following American Prep programs at the school following the board’s decision:

  • American Prep’s Academic program was rated #1 in the nation by US News and World report
  • Our robust “Character Development” Curriculum refined over 17 years at American Prep, continues to educate students in courtesy and respect for themselves and others
  • Learning Plans and progress charts, which keep parents involved and aware of student performance and daily learning
  • Reading University curriculum and awards
  • Our exceptional assemblies celebrating and honoring veterans and those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom
  • Our classical Elementary curriculum, based on the Trivium of grammar, rhetoric, and logic learning, including the amazing lessons and materials recently developed for online learning
  • Our Secondary curriculum acknowledged for its stringent focus on preparing students for higher education
  • APA’s monthly Builders themes and awards
  • Our “APA” name, logos, and Crest which represents one of the longest standing charters in the country

How do I ensure my student receives the same great APA education?

American Prep is committed to providing the exceptional educational experience that Las Vegas residents know and love. For now, that model may be offered this fall as a Private School, depending on interest.
